Thanks for that amazing article I read of yours. It was really interesting how you linked the chaos in politics from the 1850s to the disaster we see now. You made excellent points about how shaky democracy can be, and it truly got me thinking. To counter the worrying trends pointed out, focusing on getting people educated about civics and getting them involved might do the trick: making the political issue easier to understand would get more people into voting wisely.
Pushing for open forums and actions that both major political sides agree on could start to fix the divided feelings in the area. Getting the local area together with local items and discussing can fight back against the feeling of being cut off and going to extremes you discussed. Although it may seem hard given how complex the issues are, there is a profound and deep-seated certainty that understanding and addressing civic matters can genuinely make a difference.
